Today I decided to hop on the metro and hit the city alone. It was a beautiful day and I wanted to treat myself! I ended up seeing the Smithsonian Castle, Hirshhorn Museum, and Ford’s Theatre. I felt like a little tourist! But I needed a day for myself to explore and clear my head.
It was nice to learn about Ai Wei Wei, a Chinese contemporary artist, whose artwork was featured at the Hirshhorn.
It was also interesting to walk through Ford’s Theatre. I was able to learn about the influence of Abraham Lincoln by essentially walking along side of him during his last few days of life. I won’t lie, I literally shed a tear when I was reading about his death. I hope no one saw me!
An insane stack of books just outside of the Theatre. (fake books though, boo)
& of course I had to end my adventure with an amazing cup of Hot Cocoa from Zombie Coffee.
To my surprise I was also able to hitch a ride on a Pedicab back to the metro for the first time! A guy around my age called over to me as I was walking to the metro and asked if I wanted a ride. I said no thanks simply because I didn’t have any cash with me but then he proceeded to ask, “how about one for free?” DONE.
What a lovely way to end a lovely day!
Back to DC I go tomorrow with two of my lovely roommates. Can’t wait!
